Coronavirus

COVID-19

Friday, March 13th, 2020

Dear Residents,

Due to concerns with the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Morristown Housing Authority has suspended all service programs at our facilities effective immediately.  This will remain in place until further notice.  For any questions or concerns regarding the Coronavirus please contact the Morris County Office of Health Management, (973) 631-5484 or visit online at https://health.morriscountynj.gov/.

Also, over the next 30 days should you need to conduct business with the housing authority, please consider calling the management office versus visiting the office to speak with staff.  This is also being temporarily implemented for everyone’s safety.

Residents who live at 31 Early Street, 39 Early Street, and 29 Ann Street, please call your management office at (973) 292-4141 for routine business questions and (973) 538-6343 for maintenance work orders. Residents who live at Manahan Village, please call your management office at (973) 292-4151 for routine business questions and (973) 538-6343 for maintenance work orders.

You may also send an email to customercare@morristownha.com to reach a Morristown Housing Authority staff person.

Thank you for your understanding regarding this matter.

Urgent Coronavirus Update Tuesday - March 17th, 2020

Dear Resident,

In light of the developing circumstances surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Morristown Housing Authority is placing immediate restrictions on the senior buildings to limit the potential spread of the virus. This decision, made in consultation with officials from the Town of Morristown and multifamily industry experts, has been taken to protect the best interest of our residents, our staff and others with whom we interact.

CHANGE IN BUILDING ACCESS POLICY

1)  Effective immediately, no visitors will be allowed into the building. This includes all family, grandchildren, friends, or guests. Only residents already working with established visiting aides and/or medical aides may continue to do so.  We require all residents to comply with this restriction for the safety of the community.

2) The Community rooms, lobbies, and sitting areas are closed for gatherings. The laundry rooms will remain open. Residents should limit time spent in the lobby or laundry room, maintain distance from other residents and wash hands thoroughly upon re-entering your apartment.

3) Delivery personnel (grocery, prescriptions, Amazon, Federal Express, UPS) will not be allowed into the building, including the lobby. They can still call you from the vestibule and you can meet them outside the building for your delivery. Similarly, family or friends delivering food or other items can meet you outside the building.

4) The Nutrition Program at 31 Early Street will continue to operate a take-out hot meal service only.  Residents may pick up and take packaged food back to their apartments.

PREPARATIONS AND GUIDANCE

The Housing Authority offices will continue to be staffed but will not be open to the public. We require residents to speak to their management office by calling (973) 292-4141 to conduct business and to call (973) 538-6343 to report all urgent maintenance work order issues.  Our cleaning staff will continue working diligently to keep the buildings disinfected.  The maintenance staff will only be permitted to respond to emergency work at this time.

Please remember the following simple tips to help protect yourself and others: - Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. - Avoid close contact with people who are sick. - Cover your cough or sneeze with your elbow or a tissue, then throw it in the trash. - Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. - Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. - Stay in your apartment if you are sick, except to get medical care as directed by your medical provider. - Maintain a distance of 6 feet when you engage with contact with others. - If you feel sick, notify your doctor immediately.

We care very much about your health and safety and we want to assure that our building is as safe as possible in this difficult time.  Please do not hesitate to call us if you have any questions, concerns or if you need clarification about this emergency building policy. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Please be careful and stay safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Keith Kinard, Executive Director
